car runs a little too hot...no fan shroud
my car runs around 200-210 if im driving around town...i recently put in a new radiator, 180 thermostat and i have an electric fan that is working. I dont have a fan shroud...would that make it run a little hot? it runs at 180 when im on the highway. Wasnt sure if electric fans need a shroud or if there is anything else i should check. Any help would be appreciated!

Is your air deflector in its place?
Are you running a quality thermostat?
Are these temp readings with or without the a/c running?
What type radiator..and how many rows?
Did you burp the radiator upon install?
...and yes..you "do" need a fan shroud.

My coolant is a 50/50 mix like it should be...the radiator is stock...the a/c has been taken out of the car. The radiator is a new stock. I don't have any major mods done. I don't have an air director...has a stalker front. I'm not running a belt tensioner due to the a/c being removed. Can that make a difference too?

Get the tensioner and the fan shroud. Your fan will naturally want to just throw air all over the place, the shroud directs it. Did you get another belt when you removed your ac? If the pulley for the water pump has a groove pattern and the belt doesn't match it, that will affect it as well.

Get the shoud, engineers put them on there for a reason. And a new belt. If you still have issues get a thermostat that your sure works. Who knows maybe the new one you bought was faulty from the factory? none of that works, change out the water pump.
