Default Strut tower repair

Has anyone tried to repair their rusted thru towers? I'm in the middle of a 5-speed swap and saw a little hole on passenger side tower, so I started poking around with just my fingers, now I have a hole the width of the tower……CRAP! Anyone try this project with success or not worth the trouble. The rest of car is much better shape, some rust on floors that I was gonna take care of soon. But I know its probably alot worse than it looks. I've seen the patch panels from Latemodel, but now those aren't big enough. Thoughts anyone?

Get some steel, fabricate a patch panel, weld in. Only fix there is.

Mine was a little better, but similar. We welded in some steel plate, and also partially welded in the aftermarket K member in a couple places. No problems since.

it is not fatal you will be able to weld a panel over it and it will be sturdy.
