The A/C seems to work good as long as I am barely on the gas. As soon as I give it much gas the compressor kicks off.

Entirely or cycle? It should cycle, but explain better

need to check the charge, could be low on charge/ refrigerant, an a/c performance test should be done first = check vent output temp

^ was going to get to that with more details, if its constantly staying on at idle, then begins to cycle in and out with higher rpm I would suspect low charge as its having trouble building pressure.

Still, more details are needed
