Try about 12-14 degrees BTDC. Put a dot of white paint on 0-degrees if you have an adjustable timing light or on the desired advance if you do not.

Default timing

I just smeared some white paint on the timing marks. I can see the whole range with the timing light. I set my timing at 11 deg btdc with the spout out. Seems like a good setting for 85 gas and still gives me good power.

My 88 has occasionally done the full tank on the gauge thing for ever. It will usually drop back down after driving a bit.

Default Were not talking about fuel sending units

How did a sending unit question get in this discussion?
