My gauge reads 20 degrees lower than what I measure with my infrared thermometer at the sender (the reason I was checking was because I just couldn't believe the car was running that cool after an hour's driving). The gauge worked fine for years so I assumed the sender had failed and replaced it. Made sure the sender was getting coolant flow too, but still it reads 20 degrees low, so I made sure I had ordered correct sender and ordered and installed a second new one with no luck. Is it possible the gauge is bad? I hate to spend the money on new gauge only to find out I have same issue and missed something simple.

I would try cleaning up the connections and see if that helps

Ugh hit the wrong button and accidently double posted, can't seem to delete it

tried cleaning up the connection. and made sure it had solid ground wire but still same problem. I think I'll probably just buy the new gauge.
