test drove a 92

Just test drove a 92 gt. When it first started up the idle fluctuated radically. After it warmed up, it seemed to smooth out. Any ideas as to what that may be? Never had that issue with my 86.

could be smog control related

bostonxpat 06-21-2012 04:06 PM

That's pretty general. Which device?

bostonxpat 06-21-2012 04:06 PM

Anyway, I just passed inspection including smog.

aintnofoose 06-21-2012 04:21 PM

Thought you said it was a test drive...what do you mean you just had it smogged??

bostonxpat 06-21-2012 04:26 PM

It's my neighbor's car. I went with him when he got it inspected to see if I could learn more about the car. Anyway, he's saying the PVC is fairly recent.

Anyone else out there with some ideas? What about the fuel injection?

bostonxpat 06-21-2012 04:31 PM

Again, as soon as the engine warms up it seems to run better. Could it have to do with air getting warmer? What other smog devices are effected by warm air?

Its not smog related, its likely the idle air control valve. Cylinder looking thing about the size of a roll of quarters, sitting on the front of the throttle body.

Is it adjustable?
