Default Clunk/Pop in Front end

I have this noticeable loud clunk or pop when i am turning the wheel at low speed or when I hit the brakes hard or stop when parking or something(normally when backing up).
I have sized up everything I could think of.

I also have a creaking which I have located to the outer tie rod ends. There doesn't appear to be any play they just seem to be dry. I am going to replace those and possibly the inners if they make noise when i get the outers off. Does anyone have any advice on replacing the inners. I haven't been able to find specific information. Like whats the deal with those small rivet looking things and is it necessary to use the tool?

jack underneath the control arm and use a prybar under the tire to find the play.

What part of the strut was causing it? or were they just wore out?

I will try the method with the pry bar tomorrow morning when I start working on it again. Thanks

They where leaking out,, they where shot! I would have strut oil on my fenders behind the front and rear tires, check that.

Turns out it was the strut in a way. The caster adjustment on my strut was slacked off causing the strut to slide forward and back. I didn't notice it before because I didn't have a jack under the control arm to take the strain off the suspension. So that takes care of that all I need now is an alignment.

New issue though I was looking into replacing the struts since the car is lowered and its still running stock ones. I have heard that Fox struts are better for lowered SN95's is this true?

Also would running a different strut require the car to be realigned even though the ride height is established by the springs?

Thanks guys

If you are going to replace the outer tie rods, you obviously need to replace those before your alignment. If they are dry & noisy, they will go out shortly.

Before your alignment, check out your ball joints well and your Lower Control Arm pivot bushings. They are a very common problem with SN95s. I ended up buying complete new LCA assemblies (with ball joints & bushings) that are for a newer Cobra because they had a better designed pivot bushings. My SN95 only had 50k miles on it.
The 2 LCAs cost under $400 complete.
