Default 1988 Mustang LX 5.0

I'm looking at this 88 LX and am wondering if it is EFI or carb? Have yet to talk to the owner..gonna call him tomorrow and see whats up..the thing is cheap, says it runs great but needs TLC..willing to give it that TLC..also it has 188K miles on it..is that too high? Any problems with the 88 LX's? Thanks guys.

I would consider a rebuild depending on what your funds are, forged bottom end and stroke it. But for the price and as long as everything is pretty solid I'd say that you're getting a pretty good buy. It's definantely an EFI, all 87-93 are EFI (unless they're converted to carb.). Got any pic.s yet? How much are you purchasing it for?

Well the asking price is 1K..which scares me even more..because i don't know if that means that there is a lot to be done to it..so I'm gonna call him and hopefully go see it tomorrow

I like to gudge an engine-not by how many miles are on it-but by how it runs at the moment.

I say if it runs strong buy it.

The 88 is a speed density car unless its an california car then it will be mass air,the only down side is that a speed density car is alittle sensitive to mods"Intake, cam, heads, etc" but nothing a mass air conversion couldn't solve.
