Default changing oil pump

don't be fooled by mechanics that say that you have to take out the engine to change the oil pump. i did it with just car ramps, unbolting engine mounts and putting a piece of a 2x4 between the motor mounts and k-member. i left the oil pan loose and on top of the k member, i just worked around it. a bit uncomfortable and requires alot of patience and a magnet. here are some pictures of how i did it.

if you have to change out the pick up tube...it can still be done without removing the engine or removing oil pan completely. PATIENCE and a smart thinking can get it done pretty easy

+1

I actually changed my oil pan while the engine was in the car. It was a real pain with longtube headers, but I got it done. No ramps, just an engine hoist and lots of paitience.

With the proper tools, removing the engine can often be faster than struggling on a creeper. But yes, it's possible.
