Default 85 Mustang GT questions

I just seen an awesome deal on a Notch back over at my work.

How strong are the stock automatics and how stout are the older stock 5.0's??

The stock auto's are slushboxes. Anything more than a DD, and you'll want to upgrade it or swap to 5spd. The engines are die hard, though. Can't beat 'em for longevity and reliability.

No problem there with the auto. I can swap it out, upgrade the torque converter as well as the valve body while I am at

The one I am looking at has a bad leak on the left cylinder head (gaskets). Other than that, it's pretty clean except for minor flaws. I want to drive it Monday and maybe even get it.

Is it true that the stock pistons are forged and the rotating assembly can handle 450whp safely (?) what about the rods? I read those comments on youtube on a supercharged 5.0 video.. not sure if I'd rely on those comments lol
