Default clutch will not disengage transmission

My 88 GT 5.0 has been giving me problems. I just installed a new cable, quadrant, and firewall adjuster, did the initial adjustment with a lot of preload on the clutch so i could easily back everything off till I found a sweet spot, and I can push the pedal to about an inch off the floor then it stops because the fork is at full travel. but when i get in the car and start it the car still rolls with full clutch fork travel. I have everything over adjusted so that it shouldnt be anything with the cable adjustments, because right now the clutch fork is what is preventing me from pushing it all the way to the floor. the clutch fork is not hitting the bellhousing, i can see it pushing the pressure plate fingers in all the way then stopping because it cant travel any further. could it possibly be the pilot bushing being worn out causing it to still roll with full clutch fork travel??? dont respond telling me to adjust the cable, because i know thats not it. I can physically see the TOB pushing the pressure plate fingers all the way in when i have my buddy pushing the clutch pedal. the only thing i can think of that would cause the wheels to still spin with full clutch disengagement is the pilot bushing on the front of the trans. grrr i just want my stallion back on the road already!!

I've had a throwout bearing go out on me once and it chewed off the end of the bearing retainer, and that piece got wedged in between the clutch and pressure plate. it might not be the problem but its a theory

Sounds like you have the answer to your own problem.. Why not just drop the tranny and remove the clutch.. It's an easy job in the fox's, takes about 30 minutes to remove on a lift, maybe an hour tops..
