Default duraspark ignition?

I've been searching and find that the ford duraspark II is only good for up to 5,000 RPMs. is that accurate? is that why my car cuts out above 5,000 RPMs...its good for up to 5,000 once it goes over it sounds like if it doesn't have enough spark.

if this is the case then i'm upgrading to a 1 wire ignition box. any good suggestions on ignition boxes for a carb setup?

not true, you have another prob........I ran duraspark for years on numerous cars and constantly had them on cars that had 6k + rpm potential, I'd look into a prob possibly with distributor/ stator and or the advance curve on the distributor
