Default gt40 head question, again

I know this subject has been pounded again and again, and I did some searches but no real straight answers have been found. I need to know the exact years that the gt40 head (not the P, need direct bolt-on) was in the Explorer. How you tell the difference between the gt40p and gt40 head. So that I don`t get the wrong one. Lastly what "exactly" do you have to do to the linkage to the 65mm TB off the explorer to make it work on the 90 mustang. Is all this worth it? Can someone make it a sticky for others in the future. There is some info. in the junkyard section but not enough details. I found a 5.0 Explorer parts vehicle to buy (not sure of the year) and use the heads and TB but need to make sure it`s what I need!
P.S. This site has been SO! helpful, thanks.

hopefully for the last time

95 to early 97 explorers had the GT40 heads
97 1/4 and later had GT40P heads.

i had the P heads and they are a direct bolt on same as teh GT40s

P head is a much better head then the the GT40 ones

the GT40P head has a P on it along with with GTP on it. its not hard to miss that one. also plugs are more straight then angled

P head is a much better head then the the GT40 ones
Well I am glad I got some P heads then. Do they actually flow better or is it just because they are newer?

how the combustion chamber and how the ports are setup they outflow the OG GT40s. thats one reason they kept the 5.0 living so long. they were able to reduce emissions and make a cleaner burning motor for less then the cost of a new design 4.6. thats why the 5.0 lived onto 01. one of the longest lasting motors in production

also since the design was much improved and more effiecent they didntneed the larger exhaust valve thats why they stuck with the HO exhaust valve. whats also nice about the GT40P heads is youll see a bump in Compression of about .5 of a point. so stock is 9.0 now youll be about 9.5. think of that as a free 15hp just by bolting them on over teh stockers or even the GT40s. regular GT40s are stock or alittle above the HO Combustion chamber size.

Lol yeah quik I will need some. Ive noticed how you've been whoring out all your stuff in your posts today. If I had the money I would buy your intake but its all gonna towards the heads and cam swap. I still gotta buy gaskets, timing chain, and valve springs, plus pay for the machine work and labor costs...I'm broke cuz I just started college and I can only work part time now....
