Angry T5 options?

I have an 86 GT and i pulled the trans out the other day and there is a broken shift fork, 1st gear is missing 3 teeth as well as way to much input shaft play. I would like to rebuild it but after doing a quick search it would cost about $450-$500 to rebuild. I could get a used one but i don't want to spend a couple hundred on one with the same problems. I know that chevy had a T5 is it possible to use one without any modification? Or does anyone know a website with cheap parts? Thanks, if anyone has any other ideas or option let me know im trying to get this on the road ASAP.

rebuild it then you know what you have, I've done tons of them......I keep rebuild cost of parts under 500 otherwise it's not worth it IMO....www.thegearbox.org, call and talk to Kevin
