Default Scratching Sound with People in Back Seat

I have a 1995 Mustang 5.0 with 175xxx miles and a rebuilt tranny.

Whenever I have people in my back seat, I hear a scratching noise coming from the rear when I take off. The problem gets worse the more weight in the back.

I have done the bouncing shock tests, and the shocks definitely need replacement. But my question is, while replacing the shocks alleviate this problem?

I am also going to replace the differential, as it is making noise humming noises in the rear.

Does it sound like its bottoming out? if you don't know what that sounds like it could be your rubbing your fender wells

I would say it is most likely something rubbing on the wheel well since thats where the sound seems to be coming from. Do you think replacing shocks would stop this?

Probably, but you also need to replace your bump stops of you've been bottoming out a lot, but yeah start at springs

No...start with replacing the shocks....then tell the fat people to get out of the back of your car....then get some lowering springs and replace the pinion snubber that goes with it lol..

What size tire are you running? There is really no reason why you should have tire rub in the rear unless stuff is terrible worn or there is ALOT of weight in your body style...

ad adjustable shocks and work from the stiffest setting down to where you get the nicest ride without bottoming. Look at your tires and see if your cutting into them. You may have to do some massage work in you inner fender wells depending on you tire size.
