im having some ground wire issues. my starter solenoid is going bad, so sometimes i have to jump the starter solenoid to start my car. well ive been noticing that my ground wire gets hot. im confused as to why it does this. also can a bad ground wire keep your car from charging?

a bad ground wire can keep the car from starting, the battery from charging , and cause the ground to the starter to get hot and in some cases smoke . Yes a bad or loose ground can do all of that and more.

clean all connections, meaning battery cables to grounds and make sure the starter to the bellhousing bolts are not loose, the starer case is what grounds starter to block
