Intake backfire on acceleration! Please help

It is likely the maf is faulty but as mattdel indicated the lack of maf will default the computer to a limp home mode and also may disable other inputs.... So if you have a faulty ect the elimination of the maf will cause the ecm to ignore the input from it as well as the 02 sensors . A faulty 02 or ect can also cause a lean condition , but not necessarily produce a cel..
