Mustang sputters; fuel out exhaust- Troubleshoot
First post here, trying to troubleshoot my problem, hopefully yall can help! I have a 1995 Mustang 5.0 5 speed. As far as motor mods go, it has an msd distributor cap, street fire ignition coil, street fire spark plug wires, headers, and a k&n air filter. My problem is the mustang takes forever to fire up, and when it does it will sputter until higher rpms, and it is smoking a whitish color smoke , smells like fuel. I pulled a plug and it is completely black. I was going to set the timing, but unfortunately my battery died and has a dead cell, so until then I would like to try and figure out potential problems. The rotor button looks fine and seems to be making good contact also. When i was going to set the timing I was looking for the spout connector, and found it, but it is missing the plastic piece that goes into the connection. That seems to be pretty import as far as the ecu controlling the timing and all that, but would it still cause these issues, because currently the mustang runs like crap. Hopefully I can get this problem resolved with yalls expertise!

you need to get the initial timing set first off with out the spout to 10 degrees before tdc. It should idle at 10 though it will idle low at around 500 rpm or so. If the init, timing is off like way retarded it will spit and sputter and not burn all the fuel . Once you get the init, timing set you need to find a spout to put in it or a jumper wire so the computer can control the timing advance, at that time the idle will come up to around 750 to 850 . If the spitting an sputtering still continiue after that then its time to look elsewhere such as maf, or the ect sensor. ... But get it in time first
