Injector problems
Need help! The 1992 LX 5.0 I just bought has developed a miss that I can't figure out. I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor & coil. Cleaned the IAC and TB and looked over everything else. When the car is running, I pull the #5 plug wire and nothing changes. I left it unplugged and let it run a while, pulled the plug and it was NOT wet with fuel. Does this mean the injector is bad? Any way to tell?
Today I pulled the upper intake off and the injectors out of their sockets in the intake. I swapped the "bad" injector around and it works fine in another position. I have 12V at the injector but when cranking it is just not firing.
This is driving me nuts. Please help!!!

Just a thought but when you did the plugs and wires are you sure you put the wires back for an HO engine. Not saying you dont know the diff Im just getting that out of the way first.
You can check for pulse with a volt meter or test light at the injector by atatching a meter or light to the injector plug and having someone crank the engine or starting it and see if the plug is getting a pulse. Check for spark at the offending plug, also make sure none of the plug wires are broken or burnt against the exhaust .
If you have pulse at the injector plug with a known good injector and you have good spark at the plug and you know the firing order is correct .. its time to do a compresson test on #5 . a burnt valve or broken or bent push rod will cause a miss

Had a friend who is a mechanic stop by tonight and he figured it out. It was an ALMOST broken wire for the #5 injector. It would work part of the time if positioned just right. I'm so pissed off at myself as I looked everything over and didn't see it! Oh well....live and learn! I'll get everything put back together tomorrow night hopefully. I'm a jackass... It's official.
