Default Bottom end rebuild

I've got 246,000 on my motor, and I think a good rebuild will do her justice. I'm selling my motorcycle this weekend and getting 900 to myself so I can do a stock rebuild and keep it stock on bottom and throw a cam in or maybe some hydrolic lifters and some scorpion rockers, but I need to keep atleast 300 or so for school otherwise my old lady will whine about me spending all of my greenbacks. Any ideas on bottom end rebuild kits? I'm going to do this by myself with the help of my mechanic friends, and a 6 pack.

As I understand it, you will $600 or so to spend on your car.
Thats not really enough to rebuild the engine so I might spend it on other parts of the car, like suspension and brakes.....

Suspension may be your best investment. A more aggressive cam would be nice too, but they require you to upgrade the valve springs and rocker.. due to the high mileage on your motor.

My local performance shop has a stock bottom end with all my bearings rings pistons rods bolts all gaskets oil pump main bearings for 400. Could I buy an awesome valve assembly including cam with stock heads, and when I do rebuild keep my valve assembly and change it over to my new heads? or will I need knew rockers? I'm leaning towards making a foundation before I build my house you know?

I like your foundation idea, but does the $400 include machine work? Price the machine work, because it adds up to more than you think (or at least I thought it would). Also, check Summit (and other such places) for prices for the rebuild kit.

What is your foundation being built to support? Makes no sense to look at trailer park land if youre wanting to build a mansion. In other words, what are the goals for the car?

400 won't get you all you want, your eyes are bigger than your stomach, you'll be buying parts twice when you upgrade to better parts with such a small budget to start

I concur. Gotta be alot of tired parts on a 250K car.
