Default Driver side front window mystery

Ok, so my driver side(front) window stopped working completely out of the blue. Before you grill me, I checked the regulator, the switch, the motor is getting voltage, and here is the kicker.....it worked again.....perfectly fine for several days. All components are working and intact, and getting voltage. If the motor was bad, I would think when it stopped, it would be done for good. Then it stops aworking again. AND once again, all components working and intact, getting voltage, etc. No loose wires, no broken peices, a good switch.....

What the heck is happening?! Anybody go through this before?

Please help, I dont want to start throwing parts(money) at this....

Well I had a similar case. One day it stopped working and was stuck down and was ganna rain that day so I kept pushing the button up and down and eventually went up. Next day window worked but that was the last day it did. If you have access to a parts yard I would pick up another motor. It's cheap and fast to install. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks brother.....thats exactly what I was looking for....your two cents. lol

I guess the motor is going bad. I thought when a window motor died...IT DIED and that was it. Can the motor be replaced by itself or do I have to get the entire regulator?

Well, either way, Im hittin the junk yard TODAY.

Thanks Agian.

had the same issue in my 01 idk what happened, but it was rare, if it didn't come up I'd hit the motor through the plastic a couple times, and it'd come up

the motor has a dead spot in it. its very common with fox bodies. mine do it all the time, but i have found that it happens with i put the window all the way down till it doesnt move and then cut the power off, however if i put them all the way down and just put the switch up they are always fine and always work after i turn the car off. either get new motors or dont put the window down all the way.

Well its not a fox body but, same technology Im sure. lol Turns out it WAS in fact the motor. Went to the junk yard and BINGO! The window works perfect. BUT MAN! What a nightmare removing and installing the regulator and motor on that car. Ive done them on newer Cadillacs and they are easier than that.....

CASE CLOSED.
