Winding noise when clutch is pressed
I might be buying a mustang from a friend and i noticed when i was driving it there was a winding noise when clutch is pressed. It isnt that loud you can only hear it when at a stop and the clutch it pressed in, i dont know too much about fox bodys so i dont know if that is normal or not. Thanks for you help.

RE: Winding noise when clutch is pressed
most likely the throw out bearing, mine does just the opposite, it squeeks when I let the clutch
all the way out. My clutch works fine so I can deal with it until the clutch goes out.[8D]

Yep, I'll agree with lunchbox that it's the throw-out bearing. The bearing itself doesn't cost much, but does require the removal of the tranny.
And since you got to take the tranny out..................................
You might as well plan on replacing the clutch and pressure plate while you're in there. no better time to replace these items than when it's already apart....
