Your rear end set up is plenty strong in my opinion. Unless this is a track car with slicks it should hold up. Change that axle and stay off the curbs.

Agreed the stock 8.8 is plenty for a street car. If your thinking about slicks and a power adder down the road it becomes a matter of how much racing you plant to do and if it'll stay a daily driver. A 31 spline axle and new trac loc is probably about 10-20% stronger than stock but will behave just like stock. It's all about what you want to do with the car. A spool and 35 spline axles will last a lifetime but will suck on anything other than a straight line.

8.8 is plenty strong enough and with the right internals, it's fine too with slicks

Quick question, will an 8.8 from an 02 GT bolt to a 94 GT?

I think that the 02 rear axle is a little to wide for the '94...........

I knew it was a bit wider, but I'd like the rear wheels to be bumped out a bit anyhow, I have an 02 8.8 I was gonna throw on my 04 v6, but just got a 94 gt and know its a higher gear ratio and wanted to make sure it would all bolt up before I start removing the rear from the gt.

All the mounting points are the same so it can be done but like tinman mentioned the 02 8.8 is about an inch and a half longer.
