Default Heads

After I pull my 302 this winter, it's going to be getting a nice pair of heads. I was just kind of looking around, and was seeing that I don't know all that much about heads. Just from seeing a few for sale, I am trying to get an idea of the difference between stock heads, and whatever heads I buy. Can someone give me the specs on the stock heads that came in my 91gt?

The stock heads on you 91 GT have 1.78 intake valves and 1.46 exhaust valves which are both relatively small. The flow numbers for them are approximately 113 intake and 84 exhaust. By comparison the cast iron GT40's have 1.84 valves intake and 1.54 exhaust and flow 138 int and 103 exh. Most aluminum after markets are a minimum of 1.90 int and 1.60 exh for the valves.

what he said is right. and i think Edelbrock's even run 2.02/1.60's in their heads, but, dont quote me on that. any of the big names of head producers will give you a good hp increase and weight reduction off the front end also, which helps in weight transfer for when you race. good luck. let us know wut u get

You should look into AFR's. Heard nothing but great things about them. A little expensive but well worth it.
