Need info on relocating IAT sensor
Hey guys,
I have been searching up and down the internet looking for a nice, detailed "how-to" write up on relocating the IAT sensor on a S-trim fox body but unable to find any concrete information.
When relocating the IAT, is the stock 5.0 sensor still being utilized or is there another sensor to upgrade to?
Can I just drill and tap the sensor in the discharge pipe? What about the wiring harness?
Thanks,
Eric

While there are plenty of write-ups on this mod for the sn95 platform, I don't think it is something that the fox guys do. Simply because ford chose to take air temp readings directly from the intake runner. The fox computer takes the intake air temp of the runner in to account. While the sn95 takes intake air temps from the cold air intake tube , and can be moved to directly before the maf. Moving it on a sn95 causes a very slight change in the air temp readings. A mod like this on the fox would cause a drastic change in air temp readings. Something you would probly notice once the ecm goes into closed loop. Poor idle , running rich, lost fuel mileage, and a general loss of performance. I think this is why most fox guys choose to leave the iat in the stock position. On the sn95 cars if you move the iat to just before the maf it can slightly enrich the air/fuel and helps slightly when you advance the timing to keep it from pinging with greater advance.

ACT is generally the reference for the sensor if it's in the intake (like stock on an aero fox).
If the sensor is in the inlet tubing (like on an SN95, Explorer, etc) then it's often called an IAT.
It all performs the same purpose.
You can relocate it to the air box

OR
All you have to do is pull the wires back out of the harness (involves peeling some factory electrical tape)..then just pull enough slack to wrap it around the backside if the intake and put it into the tube a few inches in front of the TB ...you don't have to cut or splice anything.
