Question temp guage issues

Hey guys hows it doin? So a 88 5.0 gt just got done rebuilding the heads on it. When it warms up and just sits and idles the temp guage stays in one spot (180 to 190). As soon as i give it gas it jumps up sometimes so far i cant even see the needle on the guage because it pegs out behind the sides of the cluster. The car doesnt seem like its hot and the top hose doesnt build pressure. I cleaned both temp sensors and its still doing it. Is there anything else u guys can think of before i go buy new sensors?

Cool thats what i figured. Just to verify the one for the gauge is on the driver side of the motor with one wire coming out of the top correct?

I have seen someone swap the wires feeding the temp gauge and the oil pressure gauge before, and the gauges did something like that. At idle they both looked ok, but you rev it up and they went crazy.
