4.10 gear ?
I have a 92' auto vert.
looking at getting 4.10 gears is a daily driver and was wondering what you guys may think about it.
love the get up and go feeling off the line also gonna lock up the rear.
Anybody have good feedback on a locker so many out their?
getting also with this set up B&M ****er so I can run thru the gears.
for a daily driver I guess my ? would be is it to much. Small town but when I do drive it its peddle to the floor everywhere I go and just love the crap outta the car. I do go on long drives also hwy.
thoughts or concerns would be great.
I am trying to keep up with my brother and his STI I already do off the line until about 50 then he blows me outta the water when his turbo boosts up.
not looking to get him down the line I know thats not gonna happen but would like to show him up on to that 60 mark.
any feed back would be great thanks.
also would I have to change my speedo gears out? and wich one
Ill take a look at what trans I have i do believe there are two diff ones of that year.
thanks again.

I think 4.10's are great for a stock car. Your car will get into the torque and powerbands faster. It will definitely help the sluggish upper gears. They're not really going to affect your hwy rpm's and gas that much. There's not too much fuel consumption difference in 700 rpm mpg-wise

If he has any sort of intake other than stock, then yes he should match the tb to the intake opening and not bottleneck it with the stock unit.....putting a stock tb on a intake that lets say has a opening of 70-75 mm would be like stuffing the intake partially with a rag.

I have put nearly 60k miles on a Detroit true trac differential in a crown vic w/4.10s. I loved it so much last yr I put one in my stock 89gt. And it's performing just like I experienced with the other one I had. Very well!
Coolest thing is going around corners. It's like its smart. Instead of stepping out sideways when goosing it in 1st or 2nd.. it just gets traction and goes. IMO every stang should have had one of these from the factory. They would have had far less of a history of loosing traction in the wet.
The rear end will still step out on you, but it takes much more throttle and you have to intentionally goose it pretty hard to get it to do so. (easier with a 5 speed) With the crown Vic I had it was actually very hard to get the rear end to step out.
Only negative I know of that they are not balanced. But, many of the cobra guys with IRS use them for road racing. So maybe its not enough of an issue. For me running in the 120mph and under speeds its just fine and I'd highly recommend one.
