5.0L Mustang Fuel Pump Not Priming?
Hey guys-
I have a Mustang with a 347 Stroker. I put the car away for the winter in November with a full tank of stabilized fuel. I went out to the garage the other day to bring her back to life for the summer, and now it won't start. My fuel pressure gauge on the rail reads 0 PSI when cranking. When I turn the key, you can hear something make an audible "thunk" noise in the tank like the fuel pump is trying to engage, but it simply does not supply any fuel. Does this mean the fuel pump is bad? I assume the thunk when I turn the key to on means I have electrical power to the pump. The car is a 1991 Mustang. Any help is appreciated thanks!

Check for blown fuses first. Then try swapping a known good relay (like the starter relay) and see if that helps. Also check the inertia safety switch in the trunk and make sure it isn’t tripped. If so, push it back in and try to start the car again.
Good luck...

If it was anything electrically related though, wouldn't the pump not sound like it was trying to engage? Their is a definite sound coming from the tank every time the key is turned, which tells me that the relay is giving power to to the inertia switch, and the inertia switch is to the pump.
I also tried banging on the tank by hand a few times. No such luck

I'm with your basic thoughts about "if its making noise, it's getting power." You won't be hurting anything to double check it though. A mouse could have chewed on a ground or something causing some high resistance.
But... I had another silly thought... Is your battery any good? You may actually be lacking the amperage to start the pump up.
Not sure how brave you wanna be, but I have already seen a guy, multiple times on different days, kick the ever living crap out of the tank on his early '00s Silverado to get the pump to go. It worked for months until the day it didn't anymore... I personally wouldn't boot it as hard as that guy did!

I left my battery inside in a warm spot all winter long, and I charged it up before putting it back in. I could try jumping it with another car however.
As for kicking it.... we definitely gave of some good bangs lol. Im gonna say forget it to that.
As for the resistance.... where should I check to see if I have continuity?
