Default Help with TPS.....

Ok... From what Ive read the volts should be just under 1. and should go to 5.0 ish. Mine is at 4.98 and goes to 5.06 ish. What is causing the volts to be so high on the low end.?

Sounds like the tps needs to be adjusted or the idle screw was messed with .

your not hooking into the right wires or your not doing it correctly.

engine off, just the key on, anywhere in the .9XX range just fine

If it was off a little I could adjust.... I checked all wires to tps. One ground - One 5volt and the sensor wire. Key on.... 4.9 volts on sensor wire and 5.0 on voltage wire. Im sure Im on the right wire cause when I open throttle it increases to just over 5 volts. So are you saying the voltage will go down with idle adjustment?

Ran a new ground wire and that seem to fix the problem.

If you ran a new ground wire and it fixed your problem then you clearly have a bad ground. I wouldn’t leave it at that though. Sensors often share grounds with other sensors. So the bad ground for the TPS may also be effecting other sensors as well. I’d continue to hunt down the bad ground via a series of voltage drop tests and fix the problem the right way. Good luck...
