Default engine bay/wire harness clean up..

hey all..

so im wiring my mark8 fan, and notice probably somewhere between 2-3 dozen connectors/clips/plugs just hangin out.. just there.. not connected to anything.. just sitting there hangin around.. i also noticed a lot of wires from some connectors are actually exposed..

now keep in mind, the car as AC deleted. but should that be the reason for so many connectors?

i want to clean it up. i even was considering re-wiring the whole damn thing.. so, should i just cut the connector off?!

i need thoughts.. plz

Ive learned from experience that its best to tape them up good to keep dirt and moisture out then wire tie them up out of sight . Some day you may need that plug lol.....It happens

3 dozen? wow... I wouldn't have even guessed there are 36 connectors under the hood, total!

Maybe someone was getting ready to put an extra 302 in there?

NOOOOOOO!! NEVER cut a harness plug... EVER! (well... see below for my exception)

Either take the harness out completely, or hide the extras... I've had to make too many trips to the junkyard to get connectors from wrecks (exception) and solder them back on in my time to not speak up now.

Plus, you never know, in 20 years a good OEM Fox wiring harness might be worth BIG bucks. From all of the "my wiring is screwed up" related threads on here, I think that's a real possibility.

Trust me... Tape the bare wire ends up then roll them back and tuck them into the fenders or something. You very well may need those wires again... Plus, it sounds like YOU will be the guy cussing the last cobbler that cut the connectors off when you do!

Many Fox owners have managed to hide the entire stock harness, connected to all of the stock tidbits, without ever touching a pair of wire cutters. With them disconnected its got to be even easier.
