Rear Window Replacement
Hi all I've got an '87 convert that the back window is busted out. I'm wanting to replace the whole top eventually but until then I was wondering what some of ya'll might have down as a temporary solution. I didn't know if I should find some bendable plastic or maybe a rigid piece? From an upholstery shop??? Thanks in advance! :-)

the only thing is to really replace it you could buy a cheap plastic style replacement..but you will need a staple gun to install it properly and the entire rear of the top must be unbolted and folded forward to get to where the window mounts

MY old 7 UP Convertible had a broken rear window for a couple of years before I replace the complete top and window. The only time we drove it was during nice weather with the top down. While it was sitting in the yard, we used some clear vinyl plastic from Walmart to cover the window opening and up on the top. We used some of those stretch cords across the top and the trunk to hold the plastic in place. OH yes the plastic is sold by the yard in the fabric section of our Walmart.
Good Luck!

Just went through the same thing. Ended up replacing mine with glass... cost $600.00 (ouch)for complete job (glass and install) at local upholstery and top shop. I got a new top installed too, at the same time (entire job was $1,200). You can do the job yourself, as you know, but it's a bit of a time consuming PITA. Hope you can find a temp solution until you're ready to take the plunge and bust out the $$$.

Hey guys sorry I haven't replied yet been busy getting semester setup at school. Thanks for all the great suggestions! I've been looking it over and I think I'm just gonna drive it on nice days and wait till I get the money to have a new top and window done. I have a couple other projects that I really need to sell so there's some money. Hmmm should I rob a bank for the rest??? Lol jk! :-p
