Default running super rich. limp mode?

For a long time now I cant figure out why my car is running so rich (cant even drive it). Im guessing from all the reading ive done on here that the fuel system is in limp mode. Im also guessing now that it is the fault of the c&l mass air meter sensor or the coolant temp sensor.(it has 2 right?) Is there a way to test these to see if they are good or not? 2 years ago i had idle issues with the new stroker motor so i had a chip burnt for it. The new chip fixed the idle and made the car run very good. Then all of the sudden one day it just started running like it is currently.Very rich and like garbadge, cant drive it.

Yes there is a way to check them, use the search and you'll find it. I can't remember the specifics but it you'll be measuring volts at different temps, there was a chart on that thread that showed what it should be reading at a certain temp. Also there are 2 temp sensors, but the one on the drivers side of intake only runs the gauge, the one on passenger side is the one the the computer uses.
Your problem seems alittle more serious than a faulty temp switch thou. That's gotta be pushing black smoke out the exhaust pretty bad to not even run. Have you pulled codes? That will tell if the computer thinks the temp switch is bad.

You may have a bad injector driver in your ecm. Check the injector pulse with a noid light. I have had a couple of Ford ecm's that had a bad driver and held the injector wide open.
Both were 94 models, but it is worth checking. Noid lights are cheap at Autozone.

ok this is somthing new to try i havnt done yet. I will look into this. Sometimes it seems to clear up and run great. Did it to me tonight. Then 5 mins later its pig rich again and giving me a headache the fumes are so bad. And yes i have the garage door open.
Most of the night tonight i had to keep foot on the gas or it would stall out.Seems to run a little different day to day but usually always rich and usually will idle fairly well.
coolant temp sensor:
key on harness is supplying 4.62 volts
sensor its self has 13.17 ohms just touching its two connections
key on and sensor plugged in: 3.39 mohms and -1.97 volts.
