Default What would you do? Injectors...

I have an 88 notch with a 306 with E303 cam, Ported and polished E7 heads ford racing 1.6 roller rockers and corresponding valve springs. Typhoon upper and lower intake, BBK shorty headers, Aluminum underdrive pulleys, AC delete, smog delete, egr delete. Adjustable fuel press reg. and 190lph fuel pump. All with 19lb injectors and 19lb maf. I have a spare 24lb maf and a friend says he would sell me a set of 24lb's for 60 bucks.

My question is with my mods will the 24 lb's benefit me?

I've heard there not required till at least 300hp. I would think im sittin some where around there if not over. Opinions appreciated.

thanks

go for it at that price then you can support future mods. But no, you wont notice a seat of the pants difference in power. Bigger injectors dont make you more power. They give you the ability to support more power.

I almost feel dumb asking this but I will notice absolutely no difference? I have been told that it would help it run better. I understand the concept of helping with other additions.

You might notice a change if your adaptive strategy is trying to compensate for a lean condition. Otherwise, no.

before i put the supercharger on mine, i was running 30lb injectors that were at about 73% duty cycle which made 296hp. You can put the 24lbs in but why not just go bigger and get it tuned. It will make more power and leave you a little room for future upgrades.

I dont see a real need for anything larger than 24lb for my application. Plus the price difference of 60$ vs $300 weighs in a little. As far as air fuel I dont believe im running lean I havent hooked it up to a gauge or pulled the plugs to look. I would eventually like to add the vortech 5-6lb charger and that system is for a stock 5.0 with 19lb so 24's im my mind should be fine...

opinions...

its not really an opinion thing. there is a calculation for it(google). If you want to make 300hp which you said you are close to or are at you need to go with bigger injectors or you will run the risk of causing them to stick and do some real damage.

http://fuelinjectorclinic.com/hp-calculator this is the one i found, there are many others out there. When i got mine dynoed i had two different shops tell me that if i wanted to make 300hp i needed bigger than 24lb injectors.

I'm sure it is in your mind, price always wins over common sense..........go ahead and use a chit ball FMU with inadequate injectors, I'll be more than happy to show you what said set up did to my last motor with 24's on boost and a fmu...........tHERE IS NO SUPPLEMENT FOR A INADEQUATE FUEL SYSTEM......My local tune shops will not even tune a ride if it has an FMU.....TO much margin for error and chance to go lean.

Put the 24's in, with your current mods you'll be much safer than running the 19's. I have almost the same mods as you and still run the 19's, I have a wideband and yeah it doesn't run lean at all, but as stated above the duty cycle is probably close to being maxed out. If you don't use the 24's, I'll buy them lol.
