I already searched through the forums and couldnt find anything so I'm just going to start a new post. I have an 84 5.0 with the stock 7.5 inch rear end. I just purchased an 8.8 inch rear end with 3:73's and traction bars. What am I looking at to swap the rears around? I know it will work because I've seen other cars with this done. Now, my current 7.5 has a rear disc brake conversion already done to it, can I swap that into the 8.8? Also, what all will I need to grab from the other car when I go to get the rear end? I'm doing all of this on saturday so I only have a couple days to figure this out so any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

I swapped an 8.8 into my 85. It also had the 7.5. It was a straight swap. Can't help you with the brake issue because I retained the drums. I would imagine the brakes will also switch over without any modifications. You can even use the axles from your old 7.5, they are the same. (As long as spline count is the same)

The rear is a direct swap and the brake conversion should also work unless like stated above one set of axles is 28 spline and the other 31 spline
