Default Hot start woes....

1987 Mustang GT...Ford Racing mass air conversion, 24 lb injectors..A9l computer...mild comp cam , headers, explorer intake...5 spd.
When motor is hot, it won't crank...spins fast, doesnt drag..just left a local repair shop for a week...they couldnt fix it. Replaced TFI twice..no luck.
They said it has fire at the plugs..plenty of fuel pressure..injector pulse..fuel at the injectors. I'm at a loss as to what this could be...anyone have any ideas?

PIP inside the distributor. Good chance they didn't test it while failing.

Also for future reference, the term 'crank' refers to the starter, not the engine firing.

After researching replacing the PIP...looks like its easier to just buy a brand new distributor. $81 at Oreilleys.... comes with new TFI ($60) PIP ($20) and cap and rotor ($30). Electronic parts are $110 separately...

Its either electronic related , or lack of compression . If they have spark and fuel I would think it would try to at least pop off under compression. warped head or not torqued down correctly when they get hot can loose compression.

It starts and runs fine when cold....just when you turn it off and then try cranking after its hot...it just spins without even trying to start. It will start back up after it has cooled for hours.
