Default Cam work with stock spec top end?

New to cams, never messed with them before. Tell you the truth I'm used to rotary engines, no cams, valves, or a top end for that matter.

Any time I've messed with a cam it was putting a stock cam back in.

So my question is I have a lineup on one of these for cheap but don't want to make an offer until I know if it will work.

Will that cam play nice with stock spec valves and rockers?

This is for my 94 by the way.

It would most likely work, but a cam like that isnt going to respond very well w a stock motor. I dont think you would like it at first without heads/intake modifications. Plus you would need to upgrade the valve springs while you're at it, otherwise you might get valve float. I would say to upgrade to a new intake before that cam

none of those cams will really benifit you without complimenting mods, you must change valve springs to accomadate those cams and if the smallest one requires a dual spring, you won't be able to use them on stock heads without machine work.....a good all around cam for sn-95's is the Steeda #19 and if using stock heads look for a website called alex's parts for springs that'll work with stock heads, but don't expect any seat of the pants power addition with just a cam swap

Well I found the cam for $50 but it sold already so :-/ I never really planned on doing anything other than an E cam but this one was cheap and never installed. And I've got a gt-40 upper and lower intake, and I'm trying to talk my dad out of a set of trick flow heads just collecting dust, but if I couldn't get them I was gonna refresh my stock heads. I'm upgrading throttle body and am about to do a re gear to 4.10's in an 03 8.8 and throw that in. Just adding a little pep to my street car that's all. I'm a bit lost with cams, still learning up on them.

So not just a cam swap on its own. I plan on collecting all the parts and then taking the car off the road and installing all at once.

^This is your best bet. I would recommend gathering all the parts you want to install and do it at once! This will insure the largest gain and you'll have all the components you need etc..

Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance! Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

IMHO, even an 'E' cam is too much for an otherwise stock engine........

It's not gonna be stock when I cam it. BUT I know I can run an e cam without buying some expensive heads. I'm trying to keep this build on the cheap.

I don't "want" cheap, but brand new for 50 I wasn't gonna pass up if it was workable. It's gone already anyhow so no big deal.
