Default What has to be taken off to change EGR valve?

Can the EGR valve be replaced without removing the fuel injection plenum?
1990 Mustang 302 V8 that failed CA smog test due to EGR.

I have one on order but thought I would check first; I can barely see
it on the engine....

Yes. Two bolts on back of EGR spacer. Then it should come off.

Replaced the EGR and sensor today. The old valve was dead and would not work with
vacuum applied.

Passed the CA Smog retest today!
