So I had a friend that owns a mechanic shop come over cause I'm tired of messing with it he put it on tdc and found out it was 180 degrees off so we moved it all around how it was suppose to be fired it up got all excited cause I could actually see my mark timed it right to 10 got to the end of the driveway and it threw a rod luckily I bought a new block to build over the next few months will my top end fit and work on a 86 block?

Don't worry so much about the location of the #1 in comparison to the charts.

On the base of the distributor is a mark as shown in this next photo try to get the orientation of your distributor to how the picture has it at 10 degrees. \ Notice the notch in the lower intake at the 0 mark that is 0 btc move the mark as close as you can from looking at it to the 10. Then hit it with the light again and adjust as nessesary. Oh and ignore the writing that says to turn counter clockwise it is incorrect.

I thought the mark was actually 10 degrees BTDC?
