Default Cup Holder work around + USB Power

Hey all,

A couple months back I put in TMI 03 Cobra seats into my '93LX. What I didn't know was that when you do that you put in these seats you lose the classic cup holder between the E-Brake and Passenger seat. The bolsters on the Cobra seats are just too big.

I went around and around looking at different choices (plug and chug, those diving board looking holders, the homemade center consoles) and found that I like the homemade center console designs but no one offered them or had any details on how to build them. So I put my own "skills" to the test and came up with this.

You can see a timeline of the build here

If you peak towards the back you can see I move the cigarette lighter and added some post 2010 USB charging outlets. Each one has a 5V 3A power supply so charging my phone, MP3 player, etc is now easy money.

This wasn't the easiest thing to do and we'll see how it stands up to time, but for now I'm one happy Fox Body owner again.

That's pretty sweet, I've been tryin to figure out what to do for cup holders in my moms fox, she doesn't like the wedge between seats ones.

I'd never hack my center console up to put useless cup holders in my fox, my interior is to nice to take a chance at spilling food or drink in it...heck last week for the first time ever I decided to take a milkshake in my car.......on accident it slipped out of my hands and all over the seat and carpet it went......never before HAD i BROUGHT FOOD IN THE CAR and never again will I after that......so no cupholders for me to even tempt fate, I'm bad enough without them...lol

Well my moms interior isn't perfect and I've got an extra center con to play with lol. I'm gonna try to replicate this sort of. I like the notch outs for mug handles.

Thanks folks. I can understand not wanting any drinks/food in the car. I have two kids and a wife and getting away with no food/drink in the car is not possible. While my interior isn't perfect it's nice and having a drink in the car is a real nice to have for me. No worries though, every drink in my car is covered. But...while the drink holders are nice... I think the best add is the USB power ports. Having a couple of these is essential now-a-days.

FYI... I found today that the holder holds a 7-11 Double Big Gulp perfectly. I think that is 44 ounces. On to the next thing...
