Default exhaust header identification.

There is an extra set of headers in the trunk of the '86 GT my son just bought---and I am going through it for him.
The owner said something about replacing the heads--but I doubt that as they look original--and with the speed density setup, they wouldn't help much, right?
So I assume he meant he replaced the headers--and that would explain the extra set in the trunk. How do I identify the headers to know what they are? If I look into the outlet end, I see four tubes coming together in a reinforced section just above the outlet. Does that help ID them?

That's all v8 headers 4 tubes into the collector.

You need to get a pic of them posted up

Get a pic of the front part of the heads if you can or look on the front and back to see id you can see any bars , If there are 3 bars they are the gt40 heads. If there are 4 bars I believe they are gt40p heads. If there are no bars then you would need to get some numbers off the heads likely from under the valve cover , unless they are a good set of aftermarkets and they ususally have the brand engraved into the front.

Thanks for the replies--
Of course i should have realize that this thread would be useless w/o pictures. I'll try to take some later today, and post them.
I still am looking for an answer to my question about the benefits of major mods to a speed density SEFI--would they benefits not be rather limited since the injection system is mapped to what the fuel requirements "should" be? Or do I misunderstand the speed density set up?

Different heads would greatly increase the performance even on your speed density car.

Headers on the car look "pinched" near the bolts. The set in the trunk are rounder. I will try and get pics posted Monday.
