94' Cobra Upgrades ?
Hey guys, I jumped over from one of the other forums to try to get some advise for my brother. He has a 1994 Cobra. He has put in a higher flow fuel pump, replaced the chip with a SuperChip, Installed a CAI (I think Steeda but not sure), Put 3.73 gears in the rear, and installed Flowmasters and high flow cats. Problem: His car is DOG SLOW!! Runs over 14 in the 1/4. He has a Ford Motorsports E grind cam that he has not installed but my little bit of research says it's no different than what he has now. What are you guys doing to these cars to get them to run like it should. I saw somewhere on this forum about swapping in a computer from a different year but there were no specifics. I know the 93-94 Cobra's were bust years but can this car be made into something without changing heads, intake, or supercharging? Oh, he claims the superchip made no difference at all, he actually removed it due to his idle was very poor with it. He has a gorgeous car with very low milage, seems a shame that it doesn't live up to the Cobra badge on the side.

RE: 94' Cobra Upgrades ?
How well is the car tuned? The fuel pump won't improve performance on a stock motor. As your brother does more mods his fuel requirement may change causing the pump's flow rate to come into play. The high flow cats and exhaust added between 5-10 hp. What gears does he have? The difference between a 94-95 Cobra and a 94-95 GT is more in the upper rpm range due to the h/c/i. A gear change to 3.73 will wake up his engine's power curve. He also needs to bump the timing to 14* -16*. This will also wake up the car. Otherwise he should change all plugs and wires, rotor & cap. Then let us know how it feels.
