1995 GT 5.0 running extremely rich intermediately
Is there any kind of sensor in a automatic transmission that will cause it to run extremely rich, idle like hell, spitting out smoke and check engine light on? I only seem to think this because it will run, but seems to either be in a real high gear or low gear but its running, but its not in the appropriate speed in relationship to the RPM. EX: 3000 rpm = 30 mph and this is not from a dead start speeding up. Its when the car has been cruising. This seems to do being this only when it RAINS HEAVY for days. I have already replaced {fuel pressure regulator, ECCM.. fuel pump relay, plugs, wires, rotor and cap.} I have also taken it the Ford dealer and they couldn't figure it out! NO CHARGE. The car while driving will go in and out of this start driving normal then start all over again and you can defiantly feel it in the transmission? I'm freaking stumped! God help me.

Any chance this car has been in a flood? If so, I’d cut my losses and get rid of it. Flood cars are a PITA to diagnose. Water gets into places it shouldn’t and corrodes things from the inside out. Unless you are a master of the voltage drop test, have the wiring diagram for your ride and a bunch of free time, I’d get rid of the car…
If its not a flood car, then I would start by pulling the CEL codes. That should give you a good direction to start looking. The neutral safety switch/gear selector switch & speed sensor on the tranny can effect the fuel trim. I’d also make sure you have the proper amount of fluid in the tranny. Too little and you’ll burn it up and too much will cause cavitation and burn it up… Good luck...

Yep, pull the codes. Piece of paper and pen, and a paper clip is all you need. Very easy to do, search this forum or google it for instructions. It'll tell you all you need to know, from "which sensor is out of tolerance" to "how to pick up chicks"

Lmao to bad it wont tell you which chix are the crazy ones before you pick em up .
