How have you tested for spark and fuel? Fuel could be as simple as a clogged filter or dead pump. When you turn the key to on, but not crank it over can you hear the pump prime? Will sound like an electric sort of whine from the rear of the car.

Every time you try to crank the car, you should hear the fuel pump re prime to build pressure.

Right I know the distributor isn't producing spark, and the fuel pump isn't even coming on when you turn the key on, Ive worked on cars for years but I tend to do imports, so the older mustang im not familiar with

The distributor does not produce spark, it does exactly what it's called, distributes the spark it receives from the coil, if your not getting spark at the dizzy start working your way back, are you getting spark from the coil? If so then the wire from the coil to the dizzy is bad, if not are you getting power from the harness to the coil? If so then the coil is bad, so on and so on.

Most likely PIp. Tells ECM when to fire, common problem that I have with the cars.
