Default Kick Down Cable Help

I'm still learning about the car and playing around with it. I was looking over at what the last owner did with the kick down linkage. which is not hook up to the Holley carb and air gap manifold set up. He has it tape up and not functional. The transmission is a C4. It feels like I have 2 speed, I thought C4 were 3 speed? Can someone give a run down on what he did and is this wrong? By the way its an 85LX running 306

Yes a C4 is a 3 speed, and I don't think the kick-down would keep it from shifting into third. Check your shifter to make sure your not in L2, maybe its not aligned correctly with the D. Drive might be aligned with N if you get where I'm going with this.

The other reason would be more expensive, being third gear is shot. But maybe someone with more knowledge on C4's will chime in.

When I get a chance I'll take a look at the cable and shift thru the lower gears and see how it shifts. At this moment it hard to do full test run since I have the car up on jacks in storage for the winter.

I sure hope it the transmission is not shot, I was hoping to work on other things to get it ready for next year and see what it does on the track.

By the way like you ride saw your pics, like to see your engine set up.

I'm the same way. That's way I pick this car up because it just looks bone stock on the outside until you lift the hood up.
