Default Degreasing a T5

So I am replacing my clutch just got the T5 out and man it's nasty! I have a clear rear main leak. Should I just soak it with degreaser or can I lightly pressure wash it?

I wouldn’t use a pressure washer. The pressure can force water past the shaft seals and into the tranny. It can also get into the throwout bearing and wash out the grease inside, ruining it. I’d cover the bearings & seals with plastic/tape/bag/whatever and then hose it down with a good engine degreaser. Once its clean, then take spray some brake cleaner on a rag and wipe whatever is left off.

Good luck...

I would scrape it first, and then use brake cleaner with rags. Brake cleaner is amazing stuff....

I've done hundreds by steam cleaning, simply tape the input and output shafts off..........if the tranny is out of the car, who on earth is gonna leave the clutch fork with TOB still attached?? common sense says remove and if tranny is still in the car, there is no way it's gonna work past the bellhousing........done tons with a pressure washer and sealed up right, never an issue nor water entering.
