I'll get the tap today and try tapping my first hole ever. Any warnings?? I then have to figure out how to mount the fan to my radiator. I have the push through zip tie mounts but I don't trust them as it will vibrate.

Any advice on thermostat temps? Im running stock now.
Obviously I would remove the housing from the engine and put it in a vise before I did any kind of drilling or tapping . Use oil to lubricate the tap, and work slowly into it. Don't try to thread it all at once , run the tap in a few threads at a time and back it out then use compressed air to clean the hole out reinsert the tap and continue doing a few threads at a time. This will make a much cleaner thread .

Personally I would look for a aftermarket housing that is already tapped for this kind of thing. But you should be ok

The zip ties should be just fine. Crank down all 4 corners and it won't go anywhere.

As far as the tapping, just take your time and be sure that it's as perfectly straight as you can get it. No power tools, obviously.

Thanks... I may just buy another neck as a backup in case the tap doesn't go well so I'm not stranded at home.

Will 180 givve me heat in the winter? This is my driver and it's a vert so heat is prime. I guess 180 is pretty hot for air, so heat should be ok.

Ok, the install went well. I made a few decisions which I would love to have some feedback on.

1. 12 volt source - I used the starter solonoid thingy by the battery and it was hot at all times.
2. 12 volt switched - I tapped the wire going to the coil.

If this ok?

I wouldn't tap the wire going to the coil. Any electrical irregularities from the relay circuit may affect your ignition or overload the circuit.

Locate the ACC(essory) wire under the dash from the ignition. It's primary purpose is to switch all of the accessory relays. Tap into that or into the fuse block fuse for it. Up the rating of the fuse if necessary. Make sure that you tap into the outbound side of the fuse, not the inbound. Otherwise you risk bypassing the fuse popping when it's needed.

ok, glad i asked.

Isn't there anywhere that i can pic up an ignition source in the engine bay?

also, any clue where to run the a/c wire to turn on the 2nd fan when a/c is on? It runs off of a ground and the directions mention an a/c tri-switch.

thanks agsain..

Most fuse boxes in the engine bay have a couple of unused spots. If someone on the forum can provide you a wiring schematic for the Fuse layout, I can help you identify a good circuit to use.

The Tri-switch is probably the climate control dial/button inside the car. It's what tells the fan the A/C system is 'On'.

I would pull the fuse for the radio accessory install one of these fuse taps.

Pig tail off of that to the relays for the fan.

As far as the ac wire I have always used the signal wire for the ac compressor, I think its a green wire. Id have to go out and clean the snow off mine to get the hood open to be sure , but it is the wire that goes from the ac pressure sensor switch to the compressor.

Just picked one of of the pigtails off of ebay. Thanks!

I'll have to hunt for the A/C wire. I'll wire both fans to turn on until the summer when I start using the A/C and figure it out there.

Thanks, Dave
