Default gt40x and cam

I thinking of trickflow kit but could probably get out cheaper with gt40x heads and cam. If I use gt40x heads then I think all my original equipment should bolt strate to it and that would save me some money. The big question is -if iI put in a cam will I need new push rods and what cam would work best with the heads?

Hello! I think this is my first post in this section. Usually hang around in the Classic section, but since I have a new 5.0 in my classic, I feel I belong here as well. On to topic:
I have a Ford Racing 302 crate in my 66HT. My engine has the GT40X heads and the M-6250-B303 camshaft. This works well with a manual transmission, since the effect comes significantly over 4000 RPM. With a stock automatic I would go for more low-RPM-power. The difference in peak horsepower between the E303 and B303 is 5hp.
Here you have a selection of Ford cams from Ford Racingparts.

M-6250-E303

Good idle quality. Excellent low- and mid-range power. Power through 6000 RPM. Emissions legal with 5-speed manual trans (E.O. #D-225-16). Works good with automatic transmission. Great for superchargers. (3)

M-6250-F303*

Slightly rougher idle than E303. More mid-range and top-end power than E303. Great for superchargers. 5-speed manual transmission recommended. (3)

M-6250-B303*

Fair idle quality. Good low-end torque. Significant top-end horsepower above 4000 RPM. 5-speed manual transmission recommended. (3)

M-6250-X303*

Ultra high performance camshaft. Fair idle quality. Big time torque and horsepower maker-up to 6200 RPM. 5-speed manual transmission recommended. (3)

M-6250-Z303*

“CamZilla†the biggest and baddest camshaft Ford Racing offers. Fair idle quality. Big time torque and horsepower maker—up to 6500 RPM. 5-speed manual transmission recommended. (3)

NOTES:
(1) On EFI engines, performance camshafts work only with mass air induction systems. Will not work with Explorer EEC-V EFI. See pages 100-101.
(2) Also fits 1994-95 351W with factory roller cam when used with mass air EFI.
(3) Stock 5.0L HO cam advertised specs are 266°/266° duration, 0.444"/0.444" lift.
(4) May require piston modification for piston-to-valve clearance. Valve clearance should be checked.
(5) Requires valve spring pressure 120 lbs. close 340 psi open and may require longer pushrods.
(6) Duration figures in shaded area at 0.050" lobe lift.

You should be able to use your stock exhaust and engine pieces with either kit. You shouldn't need new pushrods with the GT40. The trick flow require longer push rods. Although I don't like the abc cams because technology has improved since their design date, I think cams that come as part of a kit are usually good for that combo i.e. the TFS stage 1 with the TFS kit and the E303 or B303 with the GT40. just remember the B is not emissions legal.

P.S. to see real improvement with either, you need to invest in a better intake.
