Default Maybe Iam having a mental error, but need help using Fuel Pressure Tester

Hey guys so I go to chk the fp on the mustang, and I have done this a few times before with no issues. Yet today I go and take the ford Schrader valve fitting and connect it to the the fuel rail (tire pressure valve look-a-like) behind the alternator. Connect the guage, and take off the vac line from the fpr. Key on, engine off...no reading? Hmm ok, I attach vac line back onto fpr, start the car and no reading on the guage at idle either? Ok maybe its my guage, so borrow a buddys tester. Go home, retry, same results. I chked fuel pressure on 2 mustangs previously, either Im forgetting something, or idk. Everything is connected nice and snug no fuel leaks? HELP

Tire pressure valve & the valve on the fuel rail are both Schrader Valves.

Check the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. With the key on, engine off, take a small screw driver and press the little pin in the middle of the Schrader valve. Some fuel should squirt out. Make sure to wear safety glasses and close your mouth. You don’t want gas in your eyes/mouth/nose etc. If there is pressure in the rail, it will squirt out a bunch of gas. If you get no fuel, then there is something going on in the fuel rail. Either the pump isn’t turning on, or the rail is clogged.

Good luck...

yup got fuel out of the Schrader valve, cleaned it up, attached the tester again and still no reading. Id think if I wasn't attaching the tester correctly, or if for some reason there was an issue there, fuel would leak out. Yet no leaking fuel, and the guage stys at 0psi. Id think faulty guage, but two faulty gauges highly unlikely. Very odd.

Sometimes you need to bleed the air out of the lines of the gauge by pushing the little bleeder button on the gauge. do this a few times and re prime pump in between. Once you have fuel coming out the clear relief tube then you should get a reading.
