Got the transmission out and I went and removed the steel bearing retainer on the end of the transmission and the outer ring of a bearing was in the retainer and the inner part was around the tranny input shaft.

Is this bearing broken?? B/c i can just slide the outer ring back on, but if this bearing is bad Id like to know before reassembling. Also, it appeared that there was sealant behind the retainer, but I've never heard anyone putting sealant for the retainer.
