5.0L (1979-1995) Mustang Technical discussions on 5.0 Liter Mustangs within. This does not include the 5.0 from the 2011 Mustang GT. That information is in the 2005-1011 section.

Cant figure this out.

Default Cant figure this out.

This is my first mustang. I purchased it several days ago. They told me it has:

- gears
- 306
- cams 575

I found out its a speed density, not MAF. I was told that the car was doing this because of the cams. Cam anyone tell me if this is true?

The car needs work and I need another hobby! LOL It was a impulse buy, I have always wanted a Fox body stang. Thanks for any input

Im not sure what they mean by 575 cam. Im assuming they meant lift but that seems a bit much for that engine.

Any how your engine is hunting idle. It could be a bad IAC , or it could be lack of vacuum due to a mismatched cam for that application.

SD cars are finicky when it comes to cam choice due to the computer looking for a specific amount of vacuum at idle.

lol......that mess t'aint gotz no camz...lol for one the tard that told you that it had "cams" would of been my first clue that it was a lie as it is singular = cam = 1 not plural.......doesn't look like that motor has ever been apart, so I doubt it's a 306 or even has gears.....check for vac leaks

Haha that's what I was thinking. I got it for a really good price so I'm going to pull the motor. Hit the body and start modding. I have ordered:

- MAF conversion ( new cold air intake through the fender)
- TF TW170 heads
- e303 cam
- 24p injectors
- TF R intake ( from a guy on this site)
- fuel pump 255
- electric fan and aluminum radiator

Should I got ahead and have the block bored 30 or is it worth it? Will this combo get me sitting around 300 horse?

I'd sure get something better than that antique E cam.
Competition Cams has some much better stuff out there.........

Could you steer me in the right direction on the cams, I just don't want to go to big. I would also like to run nitrous rarely. Thanks
